Randall Davidson I cannot help think of the Lumineers while listening to "Harper" from this self-titled CD/download. And I love the Lumineers music. To think that this unsigned band is capable of creating such attractive music encourages me to think that they are headed for something very special. Driftwood Bones: remember that name. Favorite track: Harper.

Well there’s a cold and fickle storm outside my darling, But it’s not enough to talk about with you, ‘Cause with a simple tune you could make it June my darling, And how I long to see those stormy nights again. Though I’m sure you know it’s hardly enough water, To set the eyes of emperors ablaze. And though each drop reflects your face my darling It’s just not enough for any man to take away. Chorus: I can’t go home, No I’m never going home, I would rather talk about the weather, ‘Cause I can’t go home, No I’m never going home, All these storms will just be for the better. If I could make you jump and dance around the room my dear, Would you grab my hands and pull me up too? ‘Cause I’m awash with curiosity darling, And how I long to be awash with you—with you. Chorus: I can’t go home, No I’m never going home, I would rather talk about the weather, ‘Cause I can’t go home, No I’m never going home, All these storms will just be for the better. Yes, it’s a long walk home, But I must be getting close, Because I have never felt this sort of weather. Oh yes, it’s a long walk home But I must be getting close, And I could not have asked for any better.

Quick One 04:27
Quick One Well Daddy was a quick one, And Mama ran too. They say I’m just like they are, You know that I’m fast too. ‘Cause Daddy wore white shoes, And Mama wore blue. They say I dress like they did, And man I hope that’s true. ‘Cause Daddy was a fair man, And Mama was kind. They say I act like they did, And man I hope they’re right. Chorus: Though he came back so differently than when he left Dreams of fire and war they filled his head. He came back so differently than when he left; Now he’ll never go from my side again. So I’ll go out now, I’m gonna tell those kids, That they’re not condemned to Live like their parents did. ‘Cause if your Mama was white boy, And if your Daddy was black, Well then you look like they did, And you’re a bright eyed fact. Chorus: Though he came back so differently than when he left: Dreams of fire and war they filled his head. He came back so differently than when he left; And now he’ll never go from my side again.

Stop Signs 03:54
Stop Signs This is how a star feels, As I sit I think that This is what I tree’s for: Throwing down her leaves So we can all make our homes And huddle close when it gets cold. Well we’re just a stone’s throw, Running through these stop signs, And we left the lights on, ‘Cause the darkness hurts our eyes. And if we must go home, At least we know we’re not alone. Chorus: And there’s no sweeter sound at all, No sweeter sound at all But as the leaves fall We’ll be fine. And there’s no sweeter sound at all, No sweeter sound at all But as the leaves fall We’ll be fine. As content as I’ll be, Living on the skyline. With the warm world out there, I think that we’ll be just fine To greet the stars warm rays And stretch our arms and count the days. And they’ll sleep through our nights, And we’ll sleep through days. And they’ll sleep through our nights, And we’ll sleep through days. X2 And certainly we’ve caught on fire! But there’s no need to try and fight it now. Will your wings save us? Do I need some to carry us home? I’ll run through theses stop signs, And I’ll be home on time.

Harper 07:16
Harper Stay, stay Harper stay. I can’t imagine much that’s fairer than your face. If you love me darling love, Than wasted seconds days are waiting weeks to come. Stretch, stretch out your limbs, And I will do your sickly bidding from within. Though I know, your driftwood bones, Will not wander far away from our tidewrack home. ‘Cause I don’t mind, No and she don’t care! ‘Cause we’ll be loved, Anywhere X2 Chorus: And I know that we’re fine, Here, I just wish that we felt fine. Wheredo we go from here? I’m broken here where I was bent, Here, But I’m better now than I was then. Where do we go from here? And I know that we’re fine, Here, I just wish that we felt fine. Where do we go from here Fall brings all the dead leaves to me, Here, I thank you now for everything. Where do we go from… In the end, I knew that we would win. I would live my life and live and win again. And I tried, so hard to be, Something you could go out any night and try and find, And try and try… And I will row my ship to sea, Will you stand along the wharf and wait for me? I swear, if I make it home, I will stay right here Until the summers dead and gone And cold and dead and gone. Where do we go from… This is not at all what I wished for I get caught up in careless whispers Open my mouth and let the sea pour out. Ride the waves and dance as they carry you, Off to seasons far away, The ocean’s wide but sky’s much wider dear. ‘Cause I don’t mind, No and she don’t care, And we’ll be loved.

Prayer of the Mourner Part I This is the prayer of a mourner proud, Running two by two gonna bring me down. And though the prayer is simple peace divine, When the peace seems shallow hate feels nice. This is the story of a boy who’s run, Too far from the home where he belongs. Unused to the cold and dark he cried, But his voice was swallowed by the night. And this is a girl too good to judge. It’s the pretty ones I would not touch. You can spit your words from the jury booth, And guilty, guilty they’ll all run on after you. Chorus: They’ll scream that I don’t know that much, Say I don’t know that much at all, They’ll say I don’t know that much, Maybe, I don’t know that much at all. And I’m not so sick as the one you love. Remember how your long legs used to run? Take cover under summer skies, To keep the sunlight out your eyes. Chorus: They’ll scream that I don’t know that much, Say I don’t know that much at all, They’ll say I don’t know that much, Maybe, I don’t know that much at all.

Prayer of the Mourner Part II Tell me does God know, That I found his lover dying? Does he know we breathe the air? Does he know we won’t stop trying? But tell me what you know, About summer dresses, flowing. I love how perfect eyelids speak, Or hide what crystal eyes might show me. Chorus: I don’t know that much. No, I don’t know that much at all. I don’t know that much. No, I don’t know that much at all. Baby, maybe I don’t know that much at all. I don’t that much. No, I don’t know that much at all. ‘Cause I don’t know that much, No, I don’t know that much at all. This my friends is life worth taking, Push my luck but please don’t break it. I think that this goes to show That we can make it on our own. Electric lights like chandeliers, And everything becomes so clear. I think that it’s safe to go, No matter what the trees will grow. I think that this goes to show Love lights the way and paves the road. She holds her breath ‘till she bleeds blue; Go cut your arms and you will too. No matter what the sparks will fly And powder white will suit your eyes, The mourner prays for what he’s lost, Forgetting all the time he’s got.
